When most outsiders think of Iowa, high fashion isn't exactly the first thing that comes to mind. Corn, livestock and farming - well, sure. But Iowa City, the home of the University of Iowa, has emerged as a haven for hip boutiques that carry clothing lines from across the country. How has a medium-sized town in the middle of cornfields maintained its global sense of style? We spoke to owners and salespeople at several local boutiques to find out how Iowa City stays on the current edge of fashion.
